Save-A-Pet is one of the largest no-kill cat and dog rescues and full-time in Lake County, Illinois, and one that also operates as a full-time adoption center. Operating under its mantra of ?Help, Heal, Home,? Save-A-Pet does whatever it takes to provide an animal with a second chance. In 42 years of existence, Save-A-Pet has saved more than 40,000 animals and expanded thousands of families with the love of an adopted pet. Save-A-Pet is also a resource to surrounding communities. Rescuing and caring for the dogs and cats at the Grayslake facility costs more than $1,300,000 per year ? equating to $3,500 a day to keep the Save-A-Pet doors open. Operated by a small, dedicated staff, as well as a strong, compassionate volunteer base, Save-A-Pet operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, relying solely on donor generosity in order to continue its mission of saving lives and expanding families.
